On 14th of August Turiba University in a cooperation with 3 partner universities launched a Nordplus intensive course " Mediation in Civil and Criminal Cases”, which will take place for two weeks.
Mediation is an out-of-court way of resolving disputes. Mediation can take place both in civil cases (for example, in family, work or commercial disputes, etc.), both in criminal cases (when the perpetrator makes an agreement with the victim) and in administrative matters. Mediation is becoming more and more popular in Latvia and in the world. Both courts recommend to the parties to go to the mediator in order to resolve their dispute peacefully, as well as the disputants themselves before the court try to resolve the situation with the help of a mediator.

Students during the course acquire skills in managing the mediation process, develop intercultural communication skills, attend study visits, meet and discuss with experienced lecturers and professionals from the special field.
