DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CARE
College program
Students of the Department of Health Care can study in the following study program:
- College study program – “Aesthetic Cosmetology”.
Upon completing the healthcare programs, graduates will obtain the qualification of “Beauty Specialist (in Cosmetology)” as well as the status of a healthcare professional and inclusion in the healthcare professionals register, which opens up broad opportunities for professional activities in healthcare institutions both in Latvia and abroad. Upon certification, one can start their own business (private practice) in the healthcare sector or continue their bachelor’s studies in healthcare.
The studies are led by healthcare industry professionals. The content of the program, incorporating business thinking, is designed as a balance between beauty care, medicine, and business, meaning that students acquire knowledge and skills in both the medical and business fields. Students are offered internship opportunities in healthcare institutions in Latvia, as well as in beauty and SPA salons both in Latvia and abroad.

- 1.course:
Anatomy; Labor Law and Safety; Decorative Cosmetics; Latin Language in Professional Terminology; Material Science; Sales and Presentation; Communication Psychology; Health Education and Hygiene; Dermatology 1; Pharmacology; Physiology; Basics of Genetics; Body Massage; Microbiology and Infectious Diseases; Professional English; Hand and Foot Care; Facial Massage; Therapy.
- 2. course:
Dermatology 2; Physiotherapy; Holistic Approach and Procedures; Cosmetic Chemistry; Emergency Medical Care; Facial Cosmetic Procedures; SPA Massages; Nutrition; Hair Removal; Electroprocedures; Basics of Cosmetic Mixing; Body Cosmetic Procedures; Mesotherapy and Biorevitalization; Basics of Micropigmentation and Tattooing; Pedagogy and Research; Pre-Qualification Work Practice 1.
- 3.course:
Budget Planning and Taxes; Civil and Environmental Protection; Digital Competences in the Profession; Innovations in Healthcare; Marketing Basics; Personnel Management; Basics of Professional Activity; Project Management; Salon Management; Basics of Entrepreneurship; Elective Subjects (Facial Morphology, Eyelash Extensions, Eyelash and Eyebrow Lamination, Stylistics, Eyebrow Architecture and Modeling); Pre-Qualification Work Practice 2.
Students are provided with the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to work with modern healthcare technologies and methods in specially equipped training rooms. During the studies, the learning process is closely aligned with work-based situations. For example, situations with clients/patients are modeled, using skin care electrical devices, and students learn therapeutic massage techniques in professionally equipped classrooms with a full range of professional cosmetic products and other necessary devices and instruments. This type of infrastructure is crucial as it ensures that students acquire skills and competencies in real working conditions. It helps students prepare for working in the healthcare field by gaining experience with real clients/patients and situations.
The Department of Health Care is already working on opening programs in physiotherapy, cosmetology, and other fields at the bachelor's and master's levels in the near future.
