FACULTY OF INTERNATIONAL TOURISM
Bachelor, master programs
Faculty of International Tourism of Turība University is the only tourism faculty in Latvia. The biggest advantage of the faculty from this perspective is that the studies do not end when a student graduates – the faculty’s mission is to maintain connections with alumni, encourage continuous education and practice, and later return to share experiences with other students. This creates a sense of continuity and ensures the sustainability of the industry through mutual interaction. These connections form traditions, and this is what Turība is most proud of, as it helps shape our own identity and a certain set of values.
At the Faculty of International Tourism, you can study in the following study programs in English:
- bachelor study program – “Tourism and Hospitality Management”,
- master study program – “Tourism Strategic management”.
Rich Study Baggage
Tourism education at Turība is available at two levels: bachelor’s, and master’s programs. These programs are designed by experienced and knowledgeable lecturers who have extensive practical experience in the tourism sector. Through years of practice and the application of their knowledge, they create new, interesting, and relevant study courses.
The advantage of these studies is their versatility and experience. They prepare students for work in foreign markets and develop a mindset beyond the local market. They help create competent, experienced, and versatile specialists who can adapt to any work environment within this industry. In the bachelor’s and master’s programs, tourism is viewed more from a business perspective, which includes various marketing principles, communication, and advertising elements to be worked with at the management level. It is important to note that in this industry, more work is done with intangible resources – people’s experiences, feelings, and emotions – so it is essential to create a sense for the consumer that they are willing to pay for these experiences.
International Recognition
For many years, the Faculty of International Tourism of Turība University has been evaluated using the UNWTO TedQual accreditation system, which assesses the content of courses and the alignment of programs with global tourism education standards. Turība receives praise for its modern and relevant curriculum, as well as for the practical skills acquired during the studies, which enable students to quickly adapt to the real work environment and continue their careers in the tourism sector.
Internships play a crucial role in the tourism industry, and it is important to gain experience abroad. Turība University works in partnership with various universities and tourism companies overseas to provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable and unforgettable international experience during their studies.
7 reasons to study international tourism
Tourism management studies offer the opportunity to learn about travel organization and management, principles of managing accommodation, tourism, and hospitality service companies, catering service principles, tourism logistics, as well as the nuances of tourism business creation and implementation. Tourism is one of the most dynamic, global, and in-demand industries worldwide. Since tourism today is unimaginable without technology, students also learn how to use technology both in business management and in providing various services.
- Tourism studies are suitable for those who love to travel. But, since not everyone can travel, you can learn how to help others do so and make money at the same time.
- You can work in (or even manage) hotels that are known worldwide. To work in the most famous and respected tourism companies globally, you need knowledge of hospitality services.
- You can learn how to make even an abandoned countryside property profitable.
- You can join a global community of 300 million colleagues worldwide. That’s how many people work in the tourism industry, and by studying tourism, you can become part of that community.
- To develop your own business, sometimes all you need is a good idea – to offer leisure and entertainment events, and recreational opportunities.
- You can work anywhere in the world. Tourism is an industry without borders.
- You can learn how to feel comfortable and confident in an international environment, meet different cultures, and learn exotic languages.
