ERASMUS+ BIP courses provide an opportunity to gain an international learning experience
On May 7, two BIP (Blended Intensive program) courses of the ERASMUS+ program, which are short-term mobility within the framework of the program, started at Turiba University. Today, 50 students who are participating in the course on security risk management and the course on media literacy in the digital age arrived in Turiba.
ERASMUS+ BIP courses are a relatively new initiative within the ERASMUS+ program, which provides opportunities to gain international learning experience for those who, due to some circumstances, cannot or do not want to go on exchange for a semester or an entire study year. As part of these courses, students from different countries intensively explore some topic, study in an international environment, go on study visits, participate in group work and other practical activities. Duration of such courses is from 5 to 30 days (depending on the course content and program). Before going to the course, students also participate in virtual mobility - attend online classes and work in groups. At the end of the course, students receive a certain amount of ECTS, which are credited to their study program at their "home" university.
This year, Turiba University is participating in 4 such BIP courses. Turiba hosts three courses in Riga and in one of the courses our students will go to Germany, Aachen.
BIP courses, in which Turiba accepts students, will take place for 5 working days from May 7 to 11. In the security risk management course, 23 students from Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Spain learn practical skills on how to identify, assess and plan the prevention of security risks in various organizations. During the second course, 27 students from Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Finland improve their media literacy and critical thinking skills.
The health direction will also host students from partner universities this summer from July 1 to 5, in order to stimulate students to make positive behavioral changes that will improve their quality of life as part of the BIP course " Wellness Wonderland - Discover Your Path to Vibrant Living ".
The sustainable entrepreneurship BIP course, in which the students of the Turiba University will participate, will take place in Germany at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences. Already on May 20, 10 students from the Faculties of Business Management and International Tourism will go to Aachen to learn how to create sustainable business models in a 5-day intensive course.
These courses are a great opportunity not only to learn a specific topic, but also to gain international experience, acquire practical skills, get to know other cultures and young people.
In addition to the BIP courses, 2 summer schools of the NORDPLUS program will be held in Turibas this summer in August. Turiba students are invited to apply for those course. The topics of the summer schools will be Security Risk Management and Sustainable Mind-set in Entrepreneurship. Follow the information on the Turibas website and apply for such an international experience right here in Turibas!
BIP courses are financed by the ERASMUS+ program of the European Union, project no:
