Turība signs a memorandum of cooperation with Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in Finland

In order to promote cooperation in the field of lifelong learning, innovation, research and development, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Turība University and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in Finland. The cooperation is planned in the exchange of students and lecturers, as well as in research, with a special emphasis on scientific fields such as management science, engineering programmes and physiotherapy.

Several goals have been set for the implementation of the cooperation to achieve common interests. One of them is to promote cooperation within the framework of practice exchange for both students and academic, as well as administrative staff. Within the framework of the memorandum, both parties involved have agreed on the implementation of joint projects and study programs in target areas, the creation of double diploma programs and the promotion of career growth for graduates.

The universities have agreed to attract external funding for the areas included in the memorandum, as well as for the implementation of educational, research and development cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding is concluded for a period of five years with the possibility of extension. It entered into force from the moment of its signing on April 7, 2025.

So far, the cooperation between Turība University and Satakunta University of Applied Sciences has been established within the framework of the NORDPLUS project, jointly implementing the intensive course “Sustainable Thinking in Entrepreneurship” in the summer of 2024, within the framework of which both students and lecturers from the Finnish university visit Turība University for two weeks in order to facilitate exchange of experience and practices. As part of the intensive course, students participated in lectures, practical classes, discussed with industry professionals and specialists and went on study visits. Lecturers from all three countries participated in the course. This course provided an excellent opportunity to learn and work in an international environment for both students and lecturers from Latvia, Lithuania and Finland.
