This summer from July 19th until 28th Turiba University in Riga will host NORDPLUS Intensive Course „Security and sustainability” 2022. We invite to apply full time students of all faculties, especially Security and Law programmes of Turiba University.

Processes of globalization, which mainly develop spontaneously, without a collective direct influence of the world community, create a number of problems of international and also local security and engender new risks and challenges. Also for the countries of the Baltic Sea region, security issues are the top priority. All countries of the particular region are experiences such challenges as migration, conflicts based on different cultural backgrounds, cyber-attacks and other new challenges. One of the main aspects for secure and peaceful future is sustainable development of our planet. How to use resources in sustainable manner? How to ensure sustainable management of energy? How to reduce problems created by overpopulation – lack of resources, pollution and waste management? Those are key questions which requires knowledge and skills from those specialists and young professionals who are managing and ensuring security in the company, country or even whole region.

This year we will focus on two aspects – security and sustainability. Students will participate in lectures, workshops, practical sessions, simulations and study visits. In this Course participants will be bachelor and master level students from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland. Lessons and practical seminars will be led by professors from 5 partner Universities as well as invited professionals. If you are Turiba student and are interested in topic of security and sustainable development – you are welcome to apply! Participation is free of charge. You will get incredible experience in multinational team, networking, interaction, will be able to learn from professionals from 4 different countries.

Language of the Course – English, participation in the Course – free of change. Organisers will cover lunch, study visits and free time activity costs. Applications are accepted only from full time college, bachelor and master level students. Students will receive 3 ECTS for the participation in the Course.
